Zeus, or Hermes, as his agent, was said to weigh combatants to award the win
to the mightier. Here is a scene from the myth of Troy in which Achilles, son
of the sea-goddess Thetis, battles Memnon son of winged Eos, goddess of the dawn.
The original is an Attic red-figure cup ca 450 B.C. in the Louvre.
