the first and best thing i noticed comeing into oregon was the cheap camping.
or at least cheap compared to californias outrageous prices. it became even cheaper
when i decided i could camp in the hiker/biker campgrounds(these are only $3 a night
for folks that are hikeing or bikeing ....my scooter is a bike isnt it?) i would
park the scooter at the bike stands and the rangers would just smile (the people
with there pedal powered bikes would stick there noses in the air but didnt say
anything). if you wanted to spring for it you could get a camping spot with electricty
water and cable tv for $6 less then a california piece of ground and a pit toilet.
also almost all the oregon camps have hot showers and some internet access (couple of bucks to connect).
so thats it. im in portland now looking for work. i was thinking about working for a temp
staff place and posting about all the different restuarants i work at. but i dont like
that a retaurnat can only hire you after 30 days. that means if i find a place i like
they would have to pay the staffing place $20-25 bucks an hour for 30 days or "buy" me
from them. that just doesnt sit right with me. i may do it anyways there are advantages
1)i would see a good portion of portlands restaurants 2) you dont have to do alot of
the tedious work(ie cleanup closeing down) you are expensive being a teemp and they
would rather let you go then a person on staff that could do it for half the cost.
3)it would fill out me resume some(being self employed for so long it kinda leaves a big gap).
im going to spend a couple more days to see if i cant find a good place. if that doesnt
work out ill go temp. another point in temps favor is that they will send me out immediately
after i fill out the paperwork. large town and someone is always short handed.
